WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and that means flower shops around the Cape Fear are gearing up for one of the busiest holidays of the year.
Flora Verdi in Downtown Wilmington says they see a 400% increase in volume on Valentine’s Day compared to the whole month.
Owner Maria Cholanian says business is great but it gets very hectic during the days leading up to the holiday. She says the most popular flower is of course the rose, however her favorite part about being a florist is creating a one of a kind arrangement.
“Today is really the day that we put the push on to make everything up and try to be as organized as we can to get out beautiful flowers and get them out in a timely manner tomorrow,” Cholanian said.
A few tips to keep your flowers lasting longer is to change your water every three to four days and don’t leave them in direct sunlight.
She says the second busiest holiday is Mother’s Day.
